Welcome to Mindset Monday!

I have heard it said that we must ‘chase recklessly after the calling on our lives’.  My thoughts on that statement have led me to frame my own statement.  I therefore would like to encourage us to ‘move relentlessly in the direction of the calling on our lives’.

I am a firm believer that your calling is just that… ‘YOUR calling’; and whatever that calling is, YOU are best equipped for it.  Even if it seems like others are in the same lane, you are uniquely different, and you definitely bring something different and unique to the table.  It is not by chance that of all the people on planet earth (current estimate 7.8 billion), there is only one you.  I know I know; we have heard the ‘there is only one you’ statement before, but do we really believe it?  You may recall that we started out #MindsetMonday talking about that verse from my favourite book which says, ‘as a man thinketh in his heart so is he’.  Do you believe it in your heart?  Are your thoughts, words and actions reflective of that belief?   After all, belief does govern behaviour.

Having said that, I would also like to remind us of our bio-individuality.  That’s right, we are all biologically different, which means that there is no ‘one size fits all’ as it relates to our physical bodies.  Although there may be similarities in appearances and or what serves our body and what doesn’t, there are certainly differences which we need to be aware of, and more importantly, give attention to.  Whether you are just starting out or whether you have been on the journey of a healthier lifestyle, the common theme is to be healthy.  Even most of those we know, who from their actions seem unconcerned about their health, have a desire to be healthy.

I am sure that you have heard that we are three-dimensional beings- spirit, soul and body.  Our physical being is the place we live, our body is that ‘earthen vessel’, our house, the vehicle in which we navigate this earthly existence.  My favourite book reminds me that my body is the temple of the Lord, and I would like to remind you to treat your body like the temple it is.  Take good care of it.  Let’s make every effort to eat right, exercise (movement), hydrate (improve on that water habit), rest (remember how critically important sleep is), reduce stress, nurture our minds with positivity and feed our spirits.  I am sure we can all agree that it would be quite a challenge to move toward our dreams, goals, and more importantly our calling, without wellness.  Being unhealthy (whether in mind, body, or spirit) does not serve us by any stretch of the imagination.

On this last Monday of the year 2020, and as we prepare to leave this year behind and welcome the new year, let us make a commitment to move relentlessly in the direction of healthier lifestyles, mind body and spirit.  Amidst the goal setting, goal re-setting, resolutions and all the other buzz words that accompany this time of year, let us resolve to make every effort to stay resolutely on course to a healthier lifestyle.
